Meijie Hu 
I create otherworldly space through ikebana, 3D printing, kinetic sculptures and photographs.









Part of the Hassan II Mosque extended over the water and formed a sharp angle with the shoreline. As the tide came in, the water was funneled into this corner, turning small swells into larger waves perfect for surfing. Dozens of young boys crowded the spot to body surf. Their heads bobbed above the water impatiently; when the waves arrived, they stretched out their arms and let the momentum carry them ashore.

Sunset time at a bustling harbor at Essaouira, fishermen were busy with unloading fish from the fish boats, skilled hands were mending nets for the next day’s catch. The air buzzed with energy as fish were swiftly transported to various markets and restaurants, or sold directly on the street.
